Tim Miles

SVP Global Sync, Warner Music Group

After graduating from Goldsmiths in London with a degree in music, Tim got his first break in the industry in the early 2000s when his band signed a record deal with EMI. The band went on to record an album with Andy Green (Paolo Nutini, Keane) before heading out on a number of tours and playing iconic festivals such as Glastonbury and V Festival. In his post band days Tim dabbled in writing music for film but soon got offered a job at EMI in the Sync team, working primarily as a creative, before leaving to join the book publisher Faber and Faber where he led the Composer Management and Sync Publishing business. Tim returned to the EMI business in 2013 and now co-runs the sync operation for Warner Music internationally. In his time at Warner, he has worked on thousands of film, TV, gaming and brand deals for the 2 million strong recordings catalogue. Standout placements include the world’s first artist and song partnership within the narrative of Ubisoft’s Watchdogs, for Stormzy, securing Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill in Stranger Things, which went on to become a global phenomenon and building a 2-year long activation for Ed Sheeran with Pokemon. Tim and the team continue to be thought-leaders in the sync space, advising and navigating music strategy for 3rd parties with a focus on innovation, working with agencies and partners to craft music into visual media.
